Hudson Valley Track Club

Ryan started a running club. Everyone is invited.

A free, inclusive club meeting weekly on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, with around ninety active members. No pace requirement, no membership test.

What the club is

Hudson Valley Track Club is the community side of Ryan’s running life. It is free, it is not a coaching service, and the only requirement is showing up.

Weekly runs

The club gathers on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail on a regular schedule, with groups splitting by pace so nobody finishes alone.

Around ninety members

An active roster spanning first time runners through people racing marathons, based mostly around Poughkeepsie and the surrounding towns.

Genuinely open

There is no tryout and no pace cutoff. If you are considering whether you are fast enough, you are fast enough.

Club or coaching?

They are separate things and plenty of people do both. Here is the honest difference.

The club is community

Free, weekly, and social. You get people to run with, a reason to leave the house on a cold morning, and a group that notices when you are not there. What you do not get is a plan written for you.

They work well together

Coached athletes who live nearby often use a club run as their easy day, which solves the hardest problem in distance running, which is running easy when you are alone.

Coaching is individual

Paid, one to one, and built around your goal race. Ryan writes your week, rewrites it based on what you actually ran, and is reachable directly. Most athletes are not local to the Hudson Valley at all.

Start wherever you like

There is no path you are supposed to follow. Some runners join the club and never want coaching. Some hire Ryan without ever attending a run. Both are fine.

Joining the club

Everything about schedules, locations, and membership lives on the club’s own site. It is managed separately from this one.

Show up to a run, introduce yourself to Ryan or any of the regulars, and go from there. Nobody is going to quiz you about your mile splits.

Come run on Saturday.

The club is free and the trail is flat. If coaching turns out to be the next step after that, it will still be here.
